Ziyarah ~ Dhikrullah ~ Mawlid ~ Sohbet ~ Whirling

As-Siddiq Institute and Mosque was filled to capacity this past weekend for a celebration.....

A special Orthodox Christian delegation came specifically
to America to meet with Shaykh Hisham

The Christian Priests Father Timothy and Father Theodosi from Russia enjoyed the Dhikrullah and Mawlid celebrations. They were invited by Shaykh Hisham to address the gathering. They expressed the tremendous closeness between their mystical path and that of classical Islam.

Father Timothy, explaining how he came to hear of the Shaykh said he was traveling in India. He had met many spiritual figures but noticed one person whose face displayed extraordinary light. He asked this person about his spiritual path and he said, "I am from Indonesia, visiting India and I possess no light of my own. What you are seeing is the light of my spiritual teacher, Mawlana Shaykh Nazim al-Haqqani and his caliph Shaykh Hisham."

During the Dhikrullah, permission was granted to perform whirling in honor of Mevlana Rumi, a famous Sufi Saint and world renowned poet.

The Dhikrullah was also accompanied by "Traditional Drumming" performed by the ASIM Haqqani Ensemble.

Following the Classical Islamic ceremony of Dhikrullah and Mawlid, this occasion was made Most Special when Shaykh Hisham Kabbani exhibited the Blessed Hair of the Holy Prophet Muhammad (s).
It is recorded and known that three blessed hairs of the Prophet (s), including the one currently in the hands of Shaykh Hisham Kabbani, reached the hand of Sultan Abdul Hamid Khan, II who received it in a direct lineage from the preceding Sultans of the Ottoman Empire, from Sultan Selim up to his time. Sultan Selim had received it directly from the Governor of Madina in his time. This Hair of Rasulullah was then gifted by Sultan Abdul Hamid to the Ottoman Shaykh al-Islam Sayyid Jamaluddin Effendi, 34th Shaykh of the Naqshbandi Golden Chain, and from the Shaykh al-Islam it was passed down generation to generation, and finally gifted to Shaykh Hisham in Istanbul upon his completion of a forty-day spiritual retreat (khalwat) on the order of Mawlana Shaykh Nazim.
